Whether it’s a brunch with all the trimmings or a multi-course dinner with wine, casinos in the region offer a variety of meals for mom. This year’s Mother’s Day lineup even has a few gifts for the special lady. Here is what some of the casinos are planning for Mother’s Day dining:

RENO AND SPARKS

ATLANTIS CASINO RESORT: MonteVigna Italian Ristorante will feature specials for $32 from 5 p.m. They include pan-seared day boat scallops with spinach, caramelized fennel and applewood-smoked bacon; Kobe beef short ribs with Gorgonzola mashed potatoes and roasted root vegetables; or sage-rubbed chicken with wild rice and glazed baby carrots.

Toucan Charlie’s Buffet and Grille will have a champagne brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a dinner buffet from 3-9 p.m. Each costs $23.99 and $11.99 for children ages 4-11. Reservations taken for parties of 10 or more.

Atlantis Seafood Steakhouse has a special dinner starting at $38, served from 4 p.m. It includes New York steak with bacon-blue cheese mashed potatoes, prosciutto- and sage-wrapped chicken breast with grilled polenta cake or roasted halibut with tomato Parmesan risotto. Reservations are suggested at 824-4411.

The Purple Parrot has a New York steak and shrimp duet or a glazed ham dinner starting at $10.99, served from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

BALDINI’S SPORTS CASINO: Baldini’s has two buffets: brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 2-9 p.m. Each costs $13.99 as a two-for-one adults’ price, and $11.99 for children.

Both buffets feature fried chicken, rosemary baked chicken, mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, New York steak, baked salmon, pork loin roulade, rib eye steak with mushrooms and onions, baked ham, glazed carrots, green bean almandine, barbecue short ribs, and desserts. Brunch includes fruit cobblers, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, home-fried potatoes, peel-and-eat shrimp and crab legs. Dinner includes breaded shrimp, breaded scallops, crab cakes and parsley potatoes.

BONANZA CASINO: The Cactus Creek Southwestern Steakhouse serves a champagne brunch from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It costs $26.95. Entrées include eggs Benedict, a steakhouse platter, Delmonico steak and eggs, pearls of the sea omelet, chicken-fried steak, picatta salmon and Alaskan Halibut duet, and an eggplant and portobello Parmesan melt.

There also is chilled poached lobster, chilled jumbo prawns, tomato and mozzarella tower with a blood-orange vinaigrette, crab cakes and Waldorf salad. There are field greens, cheeses, fruit, berries and desserts. The salad and pastry bar on its own costs $18.95. Reservations are recommended.

The Branding Iron Café and Buffet has a brunch buffet from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It costs $14.95. Salads include carrot raisin, Waldorf, potato and curried rice. There is a salad bar, fruit, berries and beer-steamed chilled shrimp.

Entrées include roast turkey breast, prime rib, smoked ham, chicken-fried steak, corned beef hash, chef’s pasta, herb potatoes, steamed vegetables, an omelet station, cheddar cheese and chive scrambled eggs, white clam sauce with fettuccine, French toast and shrimp scampi. Breakfast items are subject to change between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The Branding Iron’s menu special is New Orleans shrimp scampi with dirty rice and garlic Parmesan bread. It includes salad or soup and a dessert. It is served from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and costs $11.95.

CIRCUS CIRCUS RENO: The Steakhouse at Circus has two specials. There are bacon-wrapped jumbo prawns stuffed with shrimp and crab served with corn tomato and avocado salsa, saffron risotto and grilled summer squash for $28; and smoked salmon topped with shrimp, asparagus tips and a horseradish choron sauce served with whipped potatoes and fennel roasted carrots for $23.

The Courtyard Buffet has brunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. Both buffets include prime rib, rotisserie turkey breast, peel-and-eat shrimp, snow crab, and a stir fry and noodle bar. Brunch features French toast, fruit and yogurt, breakfast enchiladas and an omelet station. Dinner includes mussels in garlic butter, Mongolian beef, a baked potato bar, a taco bar, a pizza station and a “Kid’s Favorite” section.

ELDORADO HOTEL CASINO: The buffet includes a champagne brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and dinner from 4 p.m. It costs $19.99, $14.99 for Gold Members and above, and $9.99 for children 10 and younger.

Brunch includes poached eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros, Belgian waffles, apple crepes and an omelet station until 2 p.m. The soup and salad bar includes peel-and-eat shrimp, Boston clam chowder and spinach salad with honey bacon dressing.

The carving station features prime rib, roast turkey breast, honey mustard ham and leg of lamb. Other items include mushroom ravioli, lobster Bolognese and fettuccine, saltimbocca chicken breast, steamed mussels, New York steak with mushrooms and seared salmon filets. Desserts include pastries, cheesecakes, cookies and fruit pies.

GOLD DUST WEST: The $8.99 brunch special is crab Benedict with a glass of champagne or mimosa. It is served from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

JOHN ASCUAGA’S NUGGET: Brunch is served from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rotisserie and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rose Ballroom. Appetizers include cracked crab legs, Tuscan chicken salad, smoked salmon, and Roma tomato and red onion salad. Other items include eggs Benedict, waffles, biscuits and gravy, baked ham, and lamb roulades. There is an omelet station and a carving station with prime rib. Desserts include cakes, pies, pastries and mousses. It costs $21.95 and $10.95 for children ages 5-11.

Restaurante Orozko has a champagne brunch from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It includes appetizers and a fresh fruit and pastry station with berries, bananas with Grand Marnier cream, brioche, coffee cakes and a cheese board.

Entrées include sirloin steak, chorizo-Asiago cheese frittata and seared muscovy duck breast. There also is a carving station and desserts, including strawberry shortcake, blueberry cobbler, macadamia-mango cheesecake and chocolate decadence. It costs $29.95 and $14.95 for children ages 5-11.

Dinner at the Rotisserie features crab, prime rib, roast leg of lamb, breaded shrimp, and chicken and dumplings. Desserts include strawberry shortcake, blueberry cobbler and mango cheesecake. It is served 5-10 p.m. and costs $21.95 and $10.95 for children ages 5-11.

Rosie’s Café has specials from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. They include roast leg of lamb, baked smoked ham and roast turkey breast with apple stuffing. The specials include choice of appetizer. It costs $12.95 or $7.95 for children ages 5-11.

PEPPERMILL RESORT CASINO: White Orchid has a special dinner from 4:30-9 p.m. It costs $95 or $110 with wine pairings. The entrée choices are pan-roasted halibut with arugula, shaved fennel, sun-dried tomatoes, olives and fingerling potatoes; roasted Guinea hen stuffed with duck foie gras, black truffle and lobster served with vegetables; seared petite Kobe filet mignon with morel mushrooms and a horseradish potato cake; or Colorado rack of lamb stuffed with asparagus, Fontina pearl couscous and fennel-tomato lamb demi-glace. Entrée wine choices are a 2005 Mer Soleil Silver Chardonnay or a 1997 Buehler Cabernet Sauvignon.

An appetizer is served with a Roederer Brut Champagne. The second course is white and green asparagus salad with warm lobster served with a 2000 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese. The third course is baby spinach with smoked duck breast, mango, jicama and red sweet peppers served with a 2004 Reynolds Family Pinot Noir.

Before the entrée is wild strawberries with anise, red wine syrup and lemon ice. Dessert is a carmelized roasted apple tart accented with guava passion swirl served with a 2005 Palmaz Vineyards Florencia Muscat Canelli. Chocolate truffles and coffee finish the meal.

Biscotti’s has a special dinner from 4-10 p.m. It costs $49.95 or $65 with wine. The entrée is petite filet mignon with tomato-tarragon hollandaise, gulf prawns, tomatoes and green onion. It also includes grilled asparagus and peppers, and basmati rice pilaf served with a 2004 St. Supery Cabernet Sauvignon.

The meal starts with a lump crab cake on roasted corn and tomato relish with spicy aioli served with a 2005 Beringer Chardonnay. The salad is chopped romaine, ciabatta croutons, Asiago cheese and roasted tomatoes. Dessert is a berry cobbler with French vanilla ice cream served with a 2005 Bonny Doon California Muscat Vin de Glaciere.

Biscotti’s also has a Toscana brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It costs $31.95 and $12.95 for children. Italian sparkling wine is served. Chilled items include jumbo prawns, oysters on the half shell, smoked salmon with mini bagels and cream cheese, fruit, berries, Italian cheese, raw and grilled antipasti, granola and yogurt parfait, mozzarella and tomatoes, fruit salad in grenadine, field greens, baby spinach salad, marinated mushrooms, Roman chicken salad, seafood salad caprese and Caponatina salad.

Other dishes include roasted chicken penne alfredo with pancetta, cioppino, Italian sausage, smoked bacon, Belgian waffles, Bolognese tortellini, scrambled eggs with mushrooms, broiled halibut in tomato-basil salsa, lobster ravioli in Asiago cream, chicken piccata, grilled lamb chops, petite beef noisettes with Cippollini mushrooms, roasted potatoes, Montalcino frittata, poached eggs on petite crab cakes, lemon ricotta pancakes with fruit compote and amaretto-panetone French toast.

The carving station has Tuscan ribeye and honey-Dijon glazed ham. The omelet of the day is shrimp, lump crabmeat, spinach and tomato in a Gouda sauce. Desserts include pastries, cakes, tortes and breads.

The Steak House has its regular menu and a special dinner menu from 4:30-9 p.m. It costs $49.95 or $65 with wine. The entrée is filet mignon with jumbo prawns or pan-seared halibut topped with shaved fennel, and red onion and watercress salad. There are two wine choices: a 2002 Burgess Cabernet Sauvignon or a 2005 Steele Chardonnay.

The first course is cream of spring pea soup with minted cream served with a 2005 Fess Parker Viognier. The salad is spring greens with oranges, Bousin cheese and garlic-herb crostini. It is served with a 2005 Guenoc Sauvignon Blanc. Dessert is chocolate tower with raspberry-passion fruit coulis with a 2004 Bonny Doon Framboise.

Romanza Ristorante Italiano has its regular menu and a special dinner from 4:30-9 p.m. It costs $49.95 or $65 with wine. The entrée is veal medallions wrapped in Parma prosciutto with porcini mushrooms; or baked lobster stuffed with Dungeness crab, shrimp and baby scallops in a chardonnay cream sauce. Either is served with a 2005 King Estate Pinot Noir. The second course is mixed baby greens with pears, walnuts and Gorgonzola cheese; or pepper fettucccine toasted with braised short ribs, cippolini onions and gremolata. Either is served with a 2004 Coppo Camp due Rouss Barbera d’Asti.

The dessert is mascarpone ricotta parfait with honey-orange glazed cherries and amaretto gelato served with a 2005 Robert Mondavi Moscato d’Oro.

Oceano has its regular menu and a special menu from 4-10 p.m. The special costs $45.95 or $65 with wine. The entrée is baked halibut with tomato-basil stew, saffron risotto and asparagus tips; or grilled filet and stuffed lobster tail, mushroom ragout, vegetables and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Either is served with a 2003 Clos du Bois Merlot.

The appetizer is a crab and herb crepe with a 2006 Kim Crawford Riesling. The second course is roasted artichoke bisque or a salad with baby spinach, onion, pine nuts and crumbled blue cheese. Both are served with a 2005 Beringer Sauvignon Blanc.

Dessert is a shortcake tower with minted strawberry cream and vanilla ice cream paired with a 2005 Handley Gewürztraminer.

The Tuscan Ballroom hosts a brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It costs $24.95 and $12.95 for children ages 4-11. Salads include pesto pasta, country potato, Florentine chicken, ambrosia and marinated mushroom. There is a salad and fruit bar, plus chilled shrimp, cracked legs, oysters on the half shell, smoked salmon, bagels and cream cheese, sliced tomatoes and red onions.

Eggs and omelets are made to order. The carving station has prime rib, honey-glazed ham with pineapple sauce and grilled sausage. Other selections include French toast, smoked bacon, sausage links, smoked pork chops with apple-raisin compote, cheese blintzes with cherry sauce, eggs Benedict, potato pancakes, country scrambled eggs, roasted spring lamb, poached salmon, grilled chicken breast with penne pasta and basil-pesto sauce, Cabernet-braised beef tips, buttermilk mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. Desserts include cakes, pies, tortes and cookies.

The Island Buffet has a champagne brunch and dinner from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. It costs $24.95 or $12.95 for children. Until 2 p.m., there are crab Benedict and eggs and omelets made to order. The seafood bar has shrimp, cracked crab, oysters on the half shell and smoked salmon with bagels and cream cheese. The salad bar includes fruit, greens, teriyaki chicken, pesto pasta, champagne gelatin, seafood and Thai shrimp. Crab Louis and Caesar salads can be made to order.

The carving station has smoked turkey breast, balsamic pork loin, prime rib and soy-marinated baked salmon. Selections include seafood gumbo, cream of mushroom soup, honey-lemon grilled salmon, grilled steak, smoked baby back pork ribs, roasted halibut, ratatouille, string bean medley, risotto and cheddar mashed potatoes.

Asian items include sweet-and-sour chicken, egg rolls, orange duck, Korean barbecue short ribs, steamed jasmine rice, Thai spicy fried rice, seafood chow fun, Szechwan crab, teriyaki chicken skewers and steamed pork buns.

The Southwester station has shrimp fajitas, carnitas, menudo, beef chimichangas, Mexicali rice, chicken enchiladas, posole and beef tacos.

Desserts include pastries, muffins, croissants, rum rolls, apple cake, raspberry cheesecake, New York cheesecake, pies, fruit tarts, fudge, caramel nut clusters, cookies and chocolate strawberries.

A $19.95 special at the Coffee Shop is served from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. It includes crab cake Benedict, fruit and a choice of toast.

SIENA HOTEL CASINO SPA: Brunch is served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $28.95 and $12.95 for children ages 4-11. Complimentary Mother’s Day family portraits are available at the brunch.

The carving station includes roast baron of beef, baked ham and roasted leg of lamb. The menu includes eggs Benedict, cheese blintzes, Belgian waffles, made-to-order omelets, chicken scaloppini in shiitake mushroom Marsala sauce, apricot-stuffed tenderloin, mini beef Wellington, four-cheese tortellini, potato hasser and broccolini with almond butter.

Seafood includes king crab legs, shellfish, cocktail prawns, chilled salmon, salmon Oscar and calamari menuire.

SILVER CLUB: The Town Square Coffee Shop has an $11.95 special from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It includes a petite filet mignon, shrimp scampi, rice, vegetables and strawberry shortcake. All mothers receive a gift.

SILVER LEGACY: Sterling’s has a champagne brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It costs $35 and $17.50 for children ages 6-12. It includes oysters on the half shell, Asian shrimp, Dungeness crab legs, peppercorn-roasted New York strip steak, made-to-order omelets, scrambled eggs, waffles and pancakes. There are desserts, and sparkling wines and champagnes.

Buffets take place at Flavors! Buffet and the Silver Baron Ballroom, each from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It costs $19.99 and $9.99 for children ages 6-12.

The salad bar includes crab legs, chilled shrimp, cured meat, antipasto vegetables, tomatoes with mozzarella, fruit and salads such as Oriental shrimp, bowtie pasta and marinated vegetable, gold potato, Caesar and seafood. There is chicken noodle and cream of broccoli soup.

The carving station has prime rib, honey baked ham, roast turkey breast and steamship of beef. Other items include bacon, sausage links, scrambled eggs, French toast, Belgian waffles, eggs Benedict, blintzes with strawberry glaze, made-to-order omelets, fried chicken, lamb Panko, breaded basa, Kobe ribs, herb-roasted chicken, pork loin, salmon filet, kung pao chicken, cioppino, Mongolian beef, penne pasta in green pesto, garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, meat ravioli in Bolognese sauce, pot stickers, apple sage dressing and wild rice pilaf.

Café Sedona has a $14.95 special from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is prime rib and shrimp scampi with vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes and chocolate coconut cream cake. It comes with soup or salad and a choice of Ferrari-Carano Chardonnay or Merlot for $5 per glass.

TAMARACK JUNCTION: Two $19.99 dinner specials are served from 4-9 p.m. They are filet mignon, jumbo shrimp and mashed potatoes; and lime-butter sautéed halibut with wild rice pilaf. Both specials are served with asparagus, soup or salad and strawberry shortcake.

Brunch is served from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It costs $14.99 and $6.99 for children younger than 12. Entrées and sides include roasted rib eye steak, chicken-fried steak, baked ham, grilled chicken breast in mushroom sauce, shrimp scampi, rice pilaf and vegetables.

Breakfast items include waffles, vegetable frittata, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, granola, strawberries, bagels and cream cheese, smoked salmon and fruit.

TERRIBLE’S RAIL CITY CASINO: The Ale House features a mimosa brunch for $12.95 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mothers eat for free with a party of four.

The fruit bar features strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, watermelon, grapes, pineapple, kiwi and Mimosa fruit salad. Pastries include muffins, Danishes, turnovers, pies, cheesecake and mini-bagels with strawberry cream cheese.

Made-to-order items include grilled red potatoes, eggs Benedict, California Benedict, corned beef hash, poached eggs, huevos rancheros, breakfast steak and eggs any style. Other choices include bacon, sausage patties, sweet poundcake French toast, buttermilk pancakes with whipped cream and fruit topping, spinach and mushroom omelet with Swiss cheese, ham and cheddar omelet, and Denver omelete.

The City Café has brunch from 8-10:30 a.m. for $9.95. It includes honey-glazed ham, eggs Benedict and broiled breakfast steaks. There is a station with eggs and omelets made to order. Other items include melons, fruit, ambrosia salad, scrambled eggs, ham and cheese scramble, smoked bacon, sausage links, corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy, broccoli-artichoke egg gratin, O’Brien potatoes, French toasts, waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, pastries, muffins, cinnamon rolls and fruit cobbler.

The City Café also hosts a buffet from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., also for $9.95. It includes baron of beef, broiled lamb loin chops in garlic cream, pork cutlets, steamed clams, shrimp scampi, baked macadamia salmon filet, Swiss steak, Mandarin orange chicken, and linguine with scallops and red pepper coulis.

The salad bar includes fruit, melons and salads such as white bean, pesto pasta, red potato, ambrosia, marinated mushroom and gelatin. The omelet station has Denver, mushroom, and ham and cheese. Other choices include scrambled eggs, ham and cheese scramble, bacon, sausage, O’Brien potatoes, whipped potatoes, steamed vegetables, puddings, chocolate mousse, cakes, pies and New York cheesecake.

BEYOND RENO

CARSON STATION: The Station Restaurant has a $9.99 special from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It features ham with raisin sauce or roast prime rib, each with a potato, a vegetable and the salad bar.

CARSON VALLEY INN: A brunch buffet is served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Shannon Ballroom. It includes carving stations, an omelet station, salads, pastries and desserts. It costs $19.95 with a 10 percent discount for seniors and $7.95 for children 10 and younger.

Fiona’s Bar and Grill has brunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $19.95, plus specials from 4:30-9 p.m. They include rack of lamb with pinot noir jam for $34.50 and scallop and shrimp Sambuca with black and white pasta for $28.50. Reservations are recommended at 783-6650.

Katie’s Country Kitchen, open 24 hours, has two specials. The $9.99 Dungeness crab Benedict is served from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The $22.99 steak and lobster is served from 4-9 p.m., and it includes soup or salad, mashed potatoes and vegetables.

CASINO FANDANGO: Duke’s Steakhouse has specials from 3-9 p.m. They include lobster Thermidor with roasted fingerling potatoes and vegetables for $55, beef Wellington with lobster mashed potatoes and vegetables for $39 and blackened ahi with sweet potatoes, baby bok choy and banana pancakes for $55.

Tiamo Italian Grille has a $28 special. It includes filet mignon with lobster and wild mushroom demi-glace, garlic roasted red potatoes, garlic asparagus and white wine tiramisu.

The Rum Jungle Buffet has special items from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. It costs $24.99.

Palm Court Grill has $14.95 specials from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. They include poached salmon with confetti rice and New York steak with jumbo prawns and twice-baked potato. Both include asparagus; smoky cheddar, potato and bacon soup; and strawberry shortcake with chocolate sauce.

HARRAH’S LAKE TAHOE: The Forest Buffet has a champagne brunch from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Chilled items include snow crab legs, shrimp and oysters on the half shell. Omelets and eggs are made to order.

Entrées include prime rib, planked Atlantic salmon, apple pepper rotisserie chicken, mussel and clam mariniere, broiled sirloin steak, pan-seared pork medallions and eggs Benedict. Also offered are grilled Cheddarwurst sausage, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, almond wild rice, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, Belgian waffles, French toast, pancakes and ricotta blintzes with fruit.

The Italian station includes salmon pizza, chicken Dijon pizza, Gorgonzola and caramelized onion fettuccine, spinach ravioli in lobster sauce, and macaroni and cheese.

The Asian station has sweet corn chicken soup, char su spare ribs, chow mein, pork gyoza, steamed shrimp hargow, spicy orange chicken and shrimp fried rice.

There also is a soup and salad bar with New England clam chowder, chicken vegetable soup and fruit. Also featured are hot and cold cereals, desserts, made-to-order fruit crepes, fruit cobbler, bread pudding and ice cream.

It costs $21.99 or $11.99 for children.
